Whilst You Are Here

(AUTARKY)
Word of the day: Oxford Dictionaries
27th February 2014

Playing games
like monopoly
Placing hotels
on hot property
Somehow suits me
economically
In development
of autarky
Take a longer view
financially
Bear in mind
a strong democracy
Put your bunce about
methodically
Then sit there smugly
independently

Unwinnie of Conundria

A Moanster Obfuscator
Drivel wafflewind Conspoonion
Gushing eloquencia
A commonsensical alludesian

A plainted sympatheticum
Overheated verbafusion
Using airyinsinsairyness
A coverlette of bolloqusion

As a native streetly speakit
A well-known teyeduprhymie
Canshute the powdery gobbleoff
Such a poppycockney limy

Stanley Unwin made me laugh and in doing so made me think about the beauty of our english language. To be able to bend words one way or the other and still be understood underlines the inner quality within.

The Original Copy

The human mind imagines
In reveries and dreams
Ponders every possibility
In pursuit of perfect schemes

Amazed by such capacity
Yet intrigued by inner voice
Who in there is guiding me?
Teasing out my form of choice

At times we feel ‘it can’t be me’
Am I truly that profound?
Maybe give thanks to greater good
Keep my feet on humble ground

Lesser pride resides in quietude
Where great thinkers find reflection
Exacting tests removing doubt
Not wasting time on genuflection

When embarking thoughtful travel
You find a milestone aphorism
Do not drown in depths of origins
Accept your subtle plagiarism

A Bitter Pill for Bungling Bill

Seeking helpful money
A raider nabbed some cash
Twenty thousand dollars
His method somewhat rash

Lacking any preparation
To secure his newfound stash
In full view of hidden cameras
A par-baked plan reduced to mash

Simplicity the byword
Use of flair, stylized panache
A grand designer carry bag
To assist one’s exit dash

The weather is worth noting
Icy getaways prone to crash
If the slippery slope you’re sliding on
Turns to a sidewalk dancing bash

Although the pillock of this story
Found his dream a Wall Street crash
Now fortified and tightly tied
He wears a solid bracelet sash

Charge of the Light Cascade

Kepler's New Universe

Miles away from everywhere
Attractively sublime
In a Galaxy collectively
Solar powered cosmic time

Looking at it either way
The field of view is vast
In a bubble inescapable
Where the future just went past

Such abundance we may count upon
Too much space for calculation
Still no sign benign or otherwise
More than a Stone Age contemplation

Spring Is In The Air

Crazy Maisie Queen of March
A host of cuckoo songs to bring
Primarily a step to take
To flip the early axis swing

Flighty days of hopeful numbers
Upon a crashing ocean roar
Sending messages unmerciful
Wicked flags of waging war

A chiming bell of new beginnings
Her footsteps soled with iron studs
Convinced her might is proof of right
Replacing twigs with diamond buds

Trails of thunder leave no stone unturned
Sheltered havens have no place
No tears she sheds for last year’s strain
Rejecting hope of saving face

Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot

Thinking of Scotland the Brave
Pouring cold porridge on honey
To make it alone without credit
By inventing a new kind of money

Thistles cry wolf around Stirling
Lands End is now John o’ Groats
Bulging with grain in the silo
Hot trading with currency Oats

When it comes to cereal thrillers
They’ll run to the bank for a Dram
Aberdeen Angus is blowing his horn
Trading Big-Mac’s full of pony old ham

Plenty More Love In The Kitty

Like candles on a birthday cake
Icing light, for you I shine
Enjoying special days in February
I stand beside you valentine
Sharing long road walks together
Stormy weather, bright sunshine
Fields of daffodils in springtime
My sweet four seasons valentine
Quiet times we spend reflective
Simple treasures we combine
Never lost when we're together
My rising sunshine valentine

We'll Take The High Road

See You! Stand and Deliver!

Little Jockey Macintosh
Isn’t bothered by the reign
A hankering to stand-alone
Too much royalty is plain

Rich in gas and Texas tea
Now resplendent to the hilt
Time to sack the Sassenach
Parade the continental kilt

The British they can do one
The Scottish bank is sound
Their Piper’s play a merry tune
With United Kingdom’s pound

Bollocks to the lowland louts
We have the whiskey oil and gas
Och aye we are well catered for
Independently en-masse

A Gerontology Cytology

Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Day 8th February 2014

The march of time relentless
Each day that passes we deny
Ticking clocks and second hands
Released as hours go flying by

Coloured memory counting moments
Fleeting passions ember grey
Now overlook the risks you took
On greener grass in early May

When your seasons many travelled
Become a  feathered bed laid low
Accept your dying isn't pointless
When all the living things let go

The Next Step

Every step along the way
Each slope of up and down
Good days bad days take a turn
A smiling falsely circus clown
Cities full of plunderers
Practice daily hone their cunning
Selling programmes to a non event
Where top guns do the running
Traders hide their takings
A show of coffers in disguise
Play a part in contribution
Putting pennies on your eyes
Blinkered by the weight of cash
Heavy medals proudly scream
Today we made it out of there
In search of ways to live the dream
“Despite the wonderful future potential of medicine, real human longevity will only be attained when we move away from our biological bodies entirely. As we move toward a software-based existence, we will gain the means of “backing ourselves up” (storing the key patterns underlying our knowledge, skills, and personality in a digital setting) thereby enabling a virtual immortality. Thanks to nanotechnology, we will have bodies that we can not just modify but change into new forms at will. We will be able to quickly change our bodies in full-immersion virtual-reality environments incorporating all of the senses during the 2020s and in real reality in the 2040s.”

Elusively

Where are the lyrics
Of best suited songs
Matching tunes to emotions
To make great sing alongs

A sound method maybe
A caravan of mules
Or much more beyond
In a book of new rules

In the drifting of change
Sometimes luck is progression
But mostly more gradual
Like the links in succession

Hemispherical Thinking

From where I sit in my cabin
Wishing my way towards spring
Counting the last days of winter
Seeking promises that daylight may bring

In the meantime, I just blame the weather
Outgoings not going my way
Too many February moments
Draining most of  the light from my day

I hear tell it’s the last month of winter
Yet I still feel the pain of deep claws
Knowing the tenuous nature of March
Will keep me wrapped up when unlocking doors

To A Brown Eyed Handsome Man

Stars appear and shadows are a falling
You can hear my heart a-calling

BUDDY HOLLY (Charles Hardin Holley)

September 7th 1936 - 3rd February 1959 (Aged 22)
Crying, Waiting, Hoping - You'll come back
He never did but he paved the way for the greatest bands and music ever.

Its Oh So Easy it's a True Love Way
Maybe baby we'll remember Every Day
Rave on and tell me Not Fade Away
Sing in a heartbeat to That'll Be the Day

It's Raining In my Heart so Listen to me
It doesn't matter any more in the cold ice free
Think it Over baby in a Valley of Tears
All those words of love Slipping Sliding to me
