Headway Irrespective

Shingle voiceless whispering
Wisdom written in the sand
Cotton bolls in clear blue skies
Dancing waves defy command

Seagulls shriek out warnings
Light winds sailing gently by
Sunrays burn the mist away
Life in patterns flying high

Intermittent interruptions
Have no impact on this day
Unrecorded subtle changes
Each tiny favour to repay

Last Rites

Did you hear the one about this guy
Who drank too much one night
Took a short cut through a graveyard
And gave the Vicar such a fright

Tripping heavy into headstones
Falling flat on burial mounds
Seeing things with angel wings
Among memorial surrounds

Harsh noises in the Vicar’s ear
Who peered intently in the dark
As a grave before him spoke aloud
A smoky glowing red remark

The glow pulsated temporarily
From further rustling came a hiss
With sodden shoes the Vicar shrieked
To his knees confessed remiss

“What do you think you’re doing?”
Slurred a voice from all about
“Nudging me in such a private place
And now my cigarette’s gone out”

Revelations can be strange indeed
For a mind bent out of shape
With a funny way of seeing things
In a metaphorical landscape

Eau Natural

Mashing apples flicking pips
Cider carpet sucked up lips
Soaking up that orchard juice
Scrumpy Jax is hanging loose

Cider crazy red skin peeled
Russet burst a breath congealed
The hit is hard on heavy hours
Scrumpy Jax botanical powers

Natural windfalls calling wild
On jungle floors the apple child
Bower scents the party plan
Scumpy Jax alluvial flan

Tuning In

The DJ on my radio
Chat-ability on air
Sound-wave wares
Of tap along sounds
To ignore or grin and bear

Strident happy clappy
Elated bliss
deep down despair
Nostalgic past and presently
pick poppy memories to share

A Decent Disclosure

To sit down thinking what is real
A self-imposed objective lesson
Observing plain and simple things
Discarding any false impression

Demanding weights and measuring
Facts and figures hot pursued
Then re-examine all the evidence
Avoiding outcomes misconstrued

Pursuing everything most probable
Gathered evidence displayed
Calculating whys and wherefores
With surgeons fine precision blade

It is the way of all humanity
Reveal each tiny source selective
Little heed to faith or rumour
Word of mouth a poor detective

Tentatively

Uncertainly you hesitate
Sheepishly you move
Utmost caution on the outer edge
You hope that others may approve

Shyly faltering indecisively
Timidly it’s plain
Every muscle every sinew
Fearful spasms nervous pain

Reservedly and diffident
Far too coy to state your case
Hunkered down in modesty
As you quietly hide in place
