Heartfelt

Shadows of love
In her shimmering eyes
Too brief to capture for long
Passionate light
Flames in the night
Kaleidoscope colours in song
Hot forces stirring and swirling
Undertows drawing us deep
Strikingly bright
Gripping us tight
Leaving barely a memory to keep

Question

Photo by Jon Tyson on Unsplash

Considering all sorts of things
misshapen in the mould
manipulating lead and stuff
to manufacture gold

Its discovery that really counts
in structure and pursuit
disregarding wistfulness
suggestible and moot

Yet equally uncoverable
all things must have a place
subject to stringent questions
even if one loses face

Brain Storms Raging

Unceasing moans and murmurs
Tip Tap Tip like driving rain
Heavy reverie imagining
Trapped inside a hurricane

All my thoughts are swirling
Teasing torment in my head
I grab the air to catch my breath
To choke on stale ideas instead

Spiteful gusts are pounding
Scatter pages without care
Like ripping windy razor blades
Tear down my castles in the air

Which Way Home

A stairway in the fading light

On a cold relentless stone

‘Up or Down’ have lost their way

Freedom’s wings have flown

Arrows in the gangway

Bar the way to find relief

Challenges too hard to take

Strike hearts in painful grief

Direction is confusion here

Each way misfortunes load

Until the daylight dies away

On Destitution’s Road

Waiting for the weather
Waiting ‘til it’s fine
Waiting for the queue to end
Waiting on the line
Waiting for an answer
Waiting to obtain
Waiting in the open air
Waiting in the rain
Waiting in the morning
Waiting later on
Waiting ‘til it’s over
Waiting then it’s gone

Intimations and Variations

Sunday walks in August
Autumn leaves prepared for flight
Vivaldi strains and harvest scenes
Dappled golden summer light

Summer days are set to sail
At speed with winds of change
As harvest fields are set aside
Fruits of labour rearrange

Hunter’s Moon will ride the sky
Throwing cooler fading rays
Campfire stories warm togetherness
Sharing hot remembered days

When All is Said and Done

with fond regard

Mother with her quiet way
Gives herself to loves decision
Her greatest strength is understanding
A steering hand in supervision

Always there with gifts to share
In tender dreams on darkest night
Comforting when winter comes
A guiding flame of candlelight

A loving heartbeat calms the rage
Colours love in tender form
To be beside when tears we cried
Caressing hand of soothing warm

And Mother in her final sleep
Will not see our shedding of tears
By a stream of loving memories
Released from all our hopes and fears

Friends remembered

Am Writing

Writing for pleasure
Writing at home
Writing my life away
Writing a tome

Writing for nothing
Writing as such
Writing up data
Writing too much

Writing in pencil
Writing in pen
Writing in mid air
Writing in Zen

Writing on pages
Writing on screens
Writing persistently
Writing machines

Writing a letter back
Writing a tome
Writing full circles
Writing at home
