So

 Story Link

Are people starting sentences with "so" more frequently
than ever or are we just noticing it more?

So! This is what I want to say
So! Much impact using so
So! Listen up ‘So!’ is my cue
So! That you know I’m in the know

So! When I’m being interviewed
So! To speak when on the spot
So! To underline the point I make
So! There you are that’s all I’ve got

One Sunday

I've brewed a Sunday cuppa
Sitting pleasantly with sun
Sunday morning easy pace
Until the doing nothing's done

My tethered reins hang loosely
Distant clocks sing softly kind
Quiet shuffles of a passer-by
Who’s not paying any mind

All my purposes are held in check
Teacup messages drift in steam
The beauty of this priceless state
Is every painter’s private dream

Easter Parade

It's time to take the togs off
Those workman strides and boots
Put away our strings and toolbox things
Embrace more positive pursuits

We have an eye for getting there
Touring country vales and dales
A motorcar for icy weather
Protected warm in bracing gales

And then there is the motorbike
Our wheelie dream on better days
With panniers and all the gear
To travel round in cheery haze

To go from here arriving anywhere
Enjoy exhilarating leisure
Around the fields and village mysteries
Day-tripper leagues of turn-up treasure

For this is what we strove to do
When called upon to do without
Those long hours worked we never shirked
Our choice all ours without a doubt

A Pint Sized Village

Small Brewery big products

Searching for a quench experience
Where sturdy barrels rugged kegs
Will enlighten tired taste buds
Of sitting sipping rested legs

At the New Inn close to Pickering
Where every tap can pour a draw
A positive pull in a beer glass full
Will have you pleading “just one more”

If you hanker for a tipple treat
May I suggest the brewery tour
If you must do lunch then evening meal
You can stay the night for sure

And if you do then all is well
Guzzling glugs in Madness jugs
Or pirouette a Tony Hadley set
Plus another one of Sugs

Barley water hops and malt
A baseline special mix
Taking pains with cereal grains
To make a mushing crushing fix

How great this Yorkshire Brewery
Near a homely cattle shed
Cropton on a moor side edge
To drink your fill and be well fed

On a weekend break recently we visited The New Inn And Cropton Brewery it was really good value and the beer was terrific. If you fancy checking it out the address is Cropton

Almost There

In our methods and routines

On the lookout for escapes

Being elsewhere in existence

Wherein campaigners traipse

Living in a numbers game

Where differences make sense

Lots of doing yet not doing

Where this reality is pretence

Wits about you is essential

Blinding lights to set you off

The battle weary lose their way

In a death invading trough

On Leave

We thought we'd take a holiday
our dream to get away
escaping from the 'Rat-Race'
and the hurly burly fray
a sunny place pedestrian pace
with not too much to do
a little healthy exercise
perhaps a drink or two
We got there without hindrance
expectations running high
it seemed so transcendental
beneath a bold blue summer sky
the town close by was beckoning
we gaily ventured out
every restaurant we passed
was guarded by a Tout
"Come in here and taste our stuff"
 everywhere we went
on every corner cads and knaves
and rogues to circumvent
Three card tricksters,
counterfeiters,
drunkards very many
philanderer's and blackguards
in pursuit of every penny
We ventured back with eyes alert
attuned to sound and smell
A haven break?
Not sure my friend
to me it seemed like hell

20th Verb Anniversary

Photo by Clay Banks on Unsplash

Out there daily strolling

At dawn break early hours

A poet sees the way of it

Inverting eyeful powers

A shadow innovator

Finds a hint in residue

Filling up the spaces

Identifies a hidden clue

Extended by projections

Gained in zany cracks

A sensing sign detector

Unravels inside tracks

Pond Life

Photo by Lily Banse on Unsplash

From the origin of origins
Began a life deep in a pond
Among the eating and the eaten
Without a prayer or magic wand

No blessed words or salutations
Large or small the fate of all
No rituals just victuals
No consecration shawl

Life with all its stages
There to share or disregard
Scrapbooks of partial images
Open space or locked backyard
