Outside inside all around
With everything to show
Invaded by the changing light
Where undercurrents flow
Colours building patterns
In company with living
Echos rebound constantly
Filled with resonance and giving
Rapid movement rustling
Flowers dancing in the breeze
Transforming expectations
With songs of whispering leaves

I wrote this poem aimlessly
Just to see what might turn out
With open-ended narrative
And no idea on what about
I tapped each line out quickly
To avoid a sense of plan
Not the kind of poem quotable
Though an easy read to scan
I calmly wrote these careless lines
A simple undirected trek
With no respectful input
In three couplets wrote on spec

Going there was one thing
Getting there another
Being there a different take
Some bewilderment to suffer
Back then when map dependant
Routes combined with A-to-Z
Required a sense of wherewithal
Recording ways within one’s head
Nowadays when all abroad
We get our turn-by-turn commands
Arrive on time when destination
Complied with journeying demands

Here I am in thinking space
Pondering the spinning toss
That I should sit here dwelling
Inhabiting life’s double cross
Infants know that questions
Can be shortcuts to what’s known
Not realising how time changes
When the fertile seeds have grown
Moments hide hereafter routes
In a comfort cloak of calm
When speed arrives succeeding
Without raising the alarm
The problem with the hard and fast
Is how temporarily
Like states of metamorphosis
Suggesting changes set us free
Rock bottom basement offerings
Those must have buckshee deals
Sold as seen no comebacks
Those candy-taking steals
Vegetables that had their day
Putrefaction guaranteed
Lookalikes in certain lights
Seek the easy money deed
The pennywise foolhardy
Who lost sight of their mind
Bought a bag for fifty quid
Hoping for returns in kind
When they began those years ago
They took a lot of tumbles
Struggled winning anything
Ignoring all the grumbles
Their major skill was self-belief
Never thought of giving up
Ploughed on ploughed on successfully
Now hold the winner's cup
Beacons of the footie ground
Exemplars in their field
Fair and square their winning share
Will bring a future prospects yield
Early mornings on a paper round
Early evenings, just the same
Doing school not knowing why
Enjoyed a playground game
Joined the Knights Association
Thank that singer Frankie Vaughn
With all those other nowhere kids
Who found no joy in being born
Delivering coal and paraffin oil
For next to nothing but the tips
Smokey Bacon flavoured crisps
Players' Weights and puckered lips
What luck it was to do all that
It gave me strength as I got older
To know that rough was not that tough
Not giving in would make me bolder
Suspending words on lines
Hanging out in strains
Sounds alive in harmonies
Living sweetly in refrains
Bright chains form a circle
Bringing feeling to the crowd
Echoes in between the walls
Sending music tones out loud
Vibrations in the atmosphere
Heartbeats in the Limelight
Roller coaster mass attractions
Setting ardent notes alight
It is the way of the table
As good morning time arrives
Making way before you’re able
Until the tea revives
To then become more stable
For every slurp derives
The making of your daily plan
Because by then you can
Party time in London town
In celebration of the King
Paper crowns and plastic flags
A bunting breeze of bling
Decked out bejewelled in finery
Let pageantry ring out
Majestically they’ll cheerfully
Pledge allegiances no doubt
The roar of travelling peasants
Who camped out so minimally
Eating cake a homemade bake
As they bow to the filigree
Salute and count the lucky stars
On parade in lavish camp
For they display the British way
To hail the jewel-encrusted champ
Intelligence is ever natural
An evolution gift
Balancing of chemicals
Allowing minds a special drift
But everything that ever was
Now lays in waiting with our fate
By the capture of our essence
New conditions lay in wait
In pursuit of finding new ways
To release us from the trudge
From everything to very little
And the daily routine drudge
Human thought capacity
Which overall is quite lack-lustre
Where think becomes the weakest link
That the majority can’t muster
AI will soon be paramount
Deciding what is superseded
By digging up the flaccid human plot
To leave the human being weeded
