Dinner Party

As fading strains
'Last night' refrains
Leave little trace of laughter
Left over slops
For dawn break mops
First chores of morning after
Clear the decks
Leftover flecks
A final curtain encore
Like shuffled packs
The hidden stacks
Betray no signs of fervour

Mind Eternal

Eternity is consciousness

Nano technical tsunami's
A most improbable new wave
to engulf the whole of everything
a cybernetic super save

Put aside irregularity
Decommissioning the norm
Think about one’s singularity
And the betterment of form

From early days of consciousness
In dreams of ‘No Goodbyes’
Mankind has sought eternal light
a most wistful human prize

The Cup

Make for me a pair of hands
a scoop for every fountain
as I trace the source of waterfalls
Way above the highest mountain

Partaking of the cool and pure
Refreshed and rested in my palace
My golden goblet crystal clear
Far from the poisoned chalice

When searching nectars essence
one must undertake ones filter
to plot the route of all things pink
or suffer blue when out of kilter

A Virtual Contender

Within thirty years, we will have the technological means
to create superhuman intelligence. Shortly after, the human era will be ended.”
– Vernor Vinge, Technological Singularity, 1983

I very nearly telephoned
Then almost sent a text
Was on the brink of visiting
my social media had me vexed
I might have had some breakfast
On the verge of egg on toast
almost nothing in the cupboard
Just short of letters in the post
Someone somewhere said goodbye
at least I might have heard a voice
Not quite turned down my earphones
Too much music of my choice
my life is full of thereabouts
attention spans less than a minute
Overall my fun is near enough
I have virtually no limit
In a partial life of oddments
where giving time is not perceived
my head inside a kind of room
Almost never quite relieved

Phobia

Distaste and fear my bête noire
Spectre’s dread revulsion
Aversion feeds my mania
Loathsome traps of my compulsion

Preoccupied with my dislikes
A field of fear exceptional
Horror filled reluctance
Drive a terror quest continual
