Bedtime Story

Richard thought he ought to buy
A spare room brand new bed
To offer comfort to his visitors
A place to rest a weary head

The bed a spread to be admired
A slumber-land of snooze delight
A dream boat most luxuriously
A close-together pleasant night

His outlay maybe squeezed his cash
Groaning visitors moaned distress
As he’d dressed this bed of roses
With a crumbly battered old mattress

The moral of this nightmare story
When inviting folk to sleep
All that glitters matters not a peep
If mattress quality’s on the cheap
