STARBURST

It's gonna be a bright sunny day

Our tiny globe has sent a probe
To analyse our star amid
To forecast sunny weather
That may destroy our power grid
These solar outburst mysteries
May cause excessive G I C’s
Laying low our power sources
Oil and gas electricity’s
Everything is grounded here
Our planet magnet is supreme
Until those stellar flare-ups
Upset our planetary scheme
So what on earth do we expect
From NASA’s heatproof explorations
Checking up on what our star expels
So we can shield our machinations

When using the word awesome we diminish the human achievements that truly deserve the word.

Questionable

‘Why?’ As a question, we often hear
A simple question one might say
Though why cannot be answered
In simple terms in any way

For ‘Why?’ is most uncalled-for
In simple answers won’t reveal
For ‘Why?’ is nothing more or less
Than lazy interest faking zeal

So if you have a serious nosiness
And with tenacity, you try
To look beneath the weight of everything
You’ll find the ‘How?’ which gets to ‘Why?’

At The End of The Day

Peaceful sleep rejuvenates
The benefits are plain
Releasing muscle tensions
Sooth and calm a stressing brain
The hard-pressed  over needy
Dig their brains and plunder deep
Fear of missing out on wide awake
Sacrificing crucial sleep
So hail the bustling maniac
Who conquers slumber’s vast desire
Active twenty hours a day
Stretching taut the high live wire
So if the longer days and shorter nights
Keep you out of blanket bay
Your judgments and your memories
May keep you out of games you play
Checking up on all those certainties
In search of hours awake that add
Irrespective of a brain in grief
Overwhelmed and going mad

Bort and Sealed

My favourite carbonado
A superior grinding grit
In pursuit of level pegging
Ingrained beneath the split
Bringing up a polished hue
Slipping sliding with effect
To the nearest nanometre
Of a microscope inspect
Enduring to a diamond shine
As near perfection one may get
When looking at the final finish
A crowning glory coronet

Hello Again

Passing mirrors isn’t easy
We feel compelled to check
The state of one’s reflection
Poised in place above the neck
Though sometimes we are able
To scrutinise from head to toe
Observing how the other me
Suggests an image of just so
As long as we can look in there
We can be sure that we’re still here
As opposites in perfect time
Our duplication dance we share

Brain Ache - On Give or Take

It either does
or doesn’t
The how it works
or not
If it is
or if it isn’t
Could be a circle
or a spot
It may be
quite important
Immaterial
all the same
The rules allow
or disallow
Depending on
the playing game
So take a piece
or put one back
If you will
or if you won't
Is it reaction
or an action
Or just a case
of 'do or don’t'

Ah! Friday, The Day of Frigga

At last, at last, the day has come
To end another week gone by
A scaling down of seriousness
Greet the weekend with a sigh

Two days to do with what you will
Do this, do that, or anything
But don’t forget its Friday yet
A super night to let it swing

Meet your mates or go on dates
Friday nights make better bonds
Where the power of a shared delight
Need not depend on magic wands

Happy Sixtieth

Today is not just any day
This special birthday’s inclination
As numbers go its peak of flow
Sixty ways of celebration
Sixty things we might have wrapped
In sixty ways with origami
Or sixty candles on your cake
But all agreed that might look barmy
Sixty is your super number
A perfect circle of your time
So spin and grin with friends and kin
Let your birthday clock face chime
Let wisdom gained now be your guide
You’ve conquered sixty mountains high
Look up there are no barriers or limits in the sky

If you are 60 Today
Happy Birthday This is for you

Cold Starts

The weather’s icy fingers
Are pointing at my clobber
Seeking gaps and floppy flaps
A sneaky pocket picking robber

Ripping warmth and cosiness
From my winter warmer’s chest
Left aching in the deathly cold
Bemoans not wearing thermal vest

Our winters here are far from worst
We’re nowhere near the polar caps
But each degree that steals from me
Throws brittle shivers on cold snaps

Who’s At The Door?

A mean moody mist descended
Heavy on a menacing October night
Hard to place that sound of razor cut flesh
There was a flicker of evil in the candlelight

As they approached a darkened doorway
Gusts carried a faint sound of distant cries
The empty pathway felt overcrowded
Full of clouds fallen from the skies

Hidden eyes watched and patiently waited
It was here where they promised to meet
Dressed as memories of lonely beings
Their doorway vendetta offering trick or treat

Gangway

There is a shopping trolley trend
In supermarket lanes
How if one stands still anywhere
Will bring on browsing-by disdains

There may be hidden reasons why
Obstruction pulls the packs
Maybe a secret deal is out of sight
By the covering of tracks

Many theories are about I’m sure
Like how one draws attention
By interrupting scanning eyes
Caused by a figure’s intervention

Most likely there’s a simple truth
A universal law of flow
That everything must move along
Or twist and turn to see the show

Summitry

We all agree potentially

There wasn’t too much left to say
Each side revealed their view
Disagreeing without seeing
Hence discovered nothing new

They continued talking just in case
Another angle might bring forth
Though in the end, the physics won
When the South attracted North

Strangely reunited held by force
Starkly differing in stance
A most intriguing camaraderie
Where those at odds will always dance

Eau de Groan (A Mobile Moan)

I took part in a survey
A tick-box situation
Grading services from ‘1-10’
For assessment information
They say they needed feedback
Improving customer contentment
And as a gesture of goodwill
Sent a free gift compliment
A pack of chocolate cookie treats
Subject to ‘T’s’ and ‘C’s’
Provided I can move my ass
And pay the travel fees
I’ll bet you think I was delighted
Rushing off to grab my prize
Although in truth I didn’t bother
This kind of treat seemed quite unwise
In future should they ever ask
On my reaction to their ploys
Giving gifts with strict conditions
Such aggravation just annoys

Data Skater

They called it ‘Information Highway’
Where we were in the driving seat
Many benefits improving lives
Brand new ways to cost compete
Buying anything sourced anywhere
A ‘Data Shopping Spree Bazaar’
But the loopholes in the scruples
Are too dangerous by far
We all believed technology
Would bring about amazing things
Not turn us into marionettes
Unaware who pulled our strings
Now we’re bundled up and graded
A petri dish of see-through folk
Like ‘Babes in Woods’ we smile along
With every prod directed poke
Small players in a numbers game
Where rules determine who will win
Conditions that dictate the terms
Dependent on whose state you’re in
Its bad enough that charlatans
Their wish to clean you out of dough
Though you need to know that corporate Joe
Has learned to mess more than you know
It seems the tricksters’ door to door
Need not rap or ring your bell
Flashing offers in your line of sight
Like thieves a knocking who can tell
And if I hope, you've read thus far
My message in here is a must
Integrity is barely anywhere
There's almost nowhere left to trust

P.S.
Be careful what you commit too on a regular basis

A Night To Remember

Vibrations rock the graveyard scene
Drumstick bones on headstones beat
Fog rolls earthbound over mounds
Shadow motions seek to greet
The night air thick with atmosphere
Something shuddering by that tree
A choir of ancient requiems
Sing out a Samhain melody
Tonight is ghoul-lash party time
Where spirits raised stand in between
Scream here and now a death-defying vow
This night of all souls Halloween

And We’re Off!

Mickey Mouse Holidays

We dream of holidays ideal
Saving every  penny spare
Selecting from a wide array
Of hotspot havens debonair
We baggage wrap our luggage pack
Double check our travel list
Allaying fear we weigh the gear
Reflect on anything’s we’ve missed
We land on time ‘The Pale Arrivals’
Reclaim our chattels passing by
The sun is hot and blinding bright
We’re here at last we sigh
At last our home to play away
Checking out our place to be
Creaking doors and greasy floors
Tired and fusty old laundry
Eventually it dawns on us
How easy dreams misrepresent
The cash we paid for scuffed and frayed
Was just a soulless concrete tent
So don’t complain they’re all the same
The heat and dust will swim away
Stuck umbrellas broken put-you-ups
Enjoy a first-class  'Get-Away'
