The Hole Truth

Today I found a pack of holes

with invisible surrounds

I put them in a see through box

in theory out of bounds

If by chance you come across them

please leave them as they are

they're sorted for convenience

so as not to look bizarre

Treat them with respect and care

so important is their place

if not holed up away from sight

they disappear without a trace 

This little ditty is one of my favourite Ropey Rhymes. It was inspired by Lennon & McCartney's song 'A Day In The Life' . In the song they mention 4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire - Check out the Wikipedia link below:

Lennon wrote the song's final verse inspired by a Far & Near news brief, in the same 17 January edition of the Daily Mail that had inspired the first two verses. Under the headline "The holes in our roads", the brief stated: "There are 4,000 holes in the road in Blackburn, Lancashire, or one twenty-sixth of a hole per person, according to a council survey. If Blackburn is typical, there are two million holes in Britain's roads and 300,000 in London."[17]

Pot holes, black holes sink holes and now a pack of holes. Whatever next.
