Broadly Speaking

I’m putting on
my friendly hat
Made of remnants
from my welcome mat
A tit-fer-tat of bristling pile
To guarantee
 my day-long smile
I wear with it
a blissful grin
To underscore the mood I’m in
When stepping out
I skip and wiggle
Ignoring scary stares
I giggle

Smiles sometimes
 quite hard to find
So I’ll pass some round

if you don’t mind
My cheerful view
 invites a few
My favourite ones

received from you

So put away that mopey coat
All aboard my laughing boat
One hundred muscles
make a frown
Just one or two

To wear the merry gown
