Trouble Wears A Heavy Boot

The once upon a time of it
So many things were different then
People saw with undecided eyes
A world not ever seen again

Most folk lived their local lives
Spending time just getting by
Smiling crying sometimes sighing
Looking out with weathered eye

And when the peace was over
War reminders filled the air
Peace is no more than a prelude
As victors steal away our share

Power brokers lusting savagely
Swamped the breath from love and laughter
Full of pledges never made to keep
In mobs not happy ever after
