Yummy

A pear appeared appealingly
Temptation fell for me
A windfall, juicy state of play
So tasteful sumptuously

Fresh and tender beckoning
A fruity teasing invitation
To partake in harvest carnival
Fetching sweetest incantation

So many ways a friend to me
A whistle wetting titillation
Kissing deep a steeping sweep
Beyond my every expectation

Coconut Tee

A coconut packed a busy bag
To leave his palm one day
Off to play a round of golf
He felt he had a swing to slay

He teed himself upon each Tee
Then gave his club a super whack
The ball sailed down the fairway
The coconut spun back

He putted hard beside the hole,
But missed by half a mile
The ball plopped in a sand catch
As he cracked himself a smile

At sunset, home he rolled again
His golf score quite a shock
“Next time, I’ll play a safer sport
Like sitting on a rock!”

Enlightenment

Taking light and tender steps
Defer to greater expectations
Understand with reasoned clarity
Bound by the finest aspirations

To reach the pinnacle way beyond
Demand quintessence purified
Enjoy the simple virtues
A strident life identified

Awakening your deepest wisdom
Welcome all with quiet ease
Letting generous kindness blossom,
Sharing more with those in need

Remember Remember

Down below the Parliament steps
Barrels of powder stacked high

A plot of colluders with secrets to keep

On their mission to reach for the sky

The unknown face of John Johnson

Guy Fawkes’ concealed hidden sparks

Where the fate of a nation 'on balance'

Ditched faiths of those predatory sharks

They moved on the man with a fireworks plan

Dumped by the great and the good

Now just pennies for roadside thoughts

Stuffed completely, though misunderstood

Embrainment

The meaningful tone of restful sound

Delivering waves of restoration

Rebuilding many modes within

Pursuing hushed coordination

The nature of each pitch portrays

Springtide freshness ruled supreme

Pleasing undulations chime

As though Ambrosia decanting cream

Vivid scenes of pleasant dreams

Gliding on a crest of crystal light

Asking nothing more than being

Flowing deep in thrilled delight

Dactylonomy

Digital codes first used for counting
Accounting presentation data
A treasured indicator
Or skilled assessment simulator

A mystery that’s clear as the sea
Breaking waves, around it gushes
Preplanned states of ways and means
Most demanding in the rushes

Urgently at speed displayed
Rewarding fast reactions
A dealer sharing promises
Bonds engaged with satisfactions

The Thought Machine

Human brains deserve much more

Than simply letting thoughts drift by

In capturing on purpose

Free ideas, some thoughts imply

For me, a favourite pastime

To let my insights get a break

Writing down those speedy thoughts

Unveils surprising lines they make

Thoughts occurring, not contrived

I kindly let them have their say

To my surprise, they do comprise

What random thoughts convey

Absolutely

Facts and figures: total sums

Unlimited and vast

Some too big to shout about

Combined methodically when cast

By application when allied

To multiple solutions

Providing proofs and indications

Defining valid executions

Rational numbers or irrational

Where outlined in golden rules

Are the roots of number branches

Most clarifying, useful tools

A Nightingale's Song of Hope

Your song is a smile in the darkest night

A breath of fresh air in the morning light

Silent movements, a fluttering wing

A presence forever lingering

When I am weak and deep in need

You bring me courage and strength indeed

A tuneful chime, a delicate ring

That time I heard a Nightingale sing

In 1996 I wrote this on behalf of my Mother-in-Law Joan after her long stay in Basingstoke District Hospital. The nurses were so kind to her she asked me if I could write something as a 'thank-you'

Excellence

In pursuit of flawlessness

Involves selection of perfection

But first comes definition

To help escape from misdirection

Precision or exactness

Golden rules to be expressed

Making benchmarks clear essentials

Where parameters are addressed

How will judgement be arrived at

As opinions play their part

For nature has no time for taste

Revealing standards from the start

The House Over There

The house over there,
where they lived for so long,
Holds memories and echoes
of laughter and song.

Now plans are being made,
and the move draws near;
A new chapter awaits,
Though the old one stays dear.

As they pack up their life
and prepare to depart,
They’ll carry that home in
their minds and their hearts.

The Snail Male

Look at me, I've got the works
Good looks, good health and nifty

A capability landscaper

Frugal rural, extra thrifty

I’ll sort your soil with chemistry

Bring nutrition to your beds

Can juxtapose and decompose

Turn your plants into purebreds

Slowly is my raison d'être
In my most beneficial pace

Bring justice to your state of play

Taking on each garden case

The Ship

Herne Bay Kent

Since 1385, 'The Ship’

  A runner's cosy hideaway

Still brings comfort steadily

A pleasant nook you’ll want to book

Conviviality served without a doubt

Food and wine distinctive

Serving choice with a quiet voice

An atmosphere most interactive

The Darfield Daring

One Friday night in Darfield

Before the clocks went back

A group of poets gathered

With some poems to unpack

The cellar floor was creaking

With the weight of what was said

Sonnet’s story’s unplanned rhymes

Dreams of elsewhere in each thread

Biscuits, tea, and coffee served

To the complimentary crowd

As ideas permeated

Some were sad, some ‘Laughed out Loud’

Common Sense

Good judgment furthers ways and means

Without reflection or dissent

Displaying what is clear to see

No doubt about by what is meant

When thinking through a resolution

All relevant tests must be applied

To avoid the glib transcribing nib

Where ‘humbug-hokum’ may reside

Found on the straight and narrow road

Where every detail is essential

As errors found inside one’s common sense

Upsets all answers consequential

Locked in Elsewhere

Image created for Random Rhymes by the Rhyme Bandit, "with creative assistance from Brutus AI."

Sitting in a busy flounder

Indifferently surrounded

Oblivious to responsiveness

Friendly interface confounded

Each state of presence individual

Drifting lonely in the crowd

The only trigger is your name

Not a soul is ‘laughing loud’

In a pool of dead sea scrolling

Where only instants get to mean

Separate shapes of group attachments

Found in a simulated screen

Akin to locked-in syndrome

Where those surviving can’t reply

Swiping quick a flicking click

No time to wonder why

Inertia Bound

Image created for Random Rhymes by the Rhyme Bandit, "with creative assistance from Brutus AI."

Inertia has me tree stumped

Stuck down beneath the ground

Within my networked root connections

I’m feeling stranded, run aground

Movement all around me

Birds and bees are crazy busy

Kids come by to sip their soda

Cheerful chuckling and fizzy

Wishful thinking has me fancying

Dreaming moves to pastures new

But inertia has me quizzical

As I have far too much to do

Blah Blah Blah

"Image created for Random Rhymes by the Rhyme Bandit, with creative assistance from Brutus AI."

When believing in one’s brilliance
To be beyond all risk of blame
Overconfident and arrogant
That one is master of the game

Misunderstanding lack of strategy
Discarding pertinent advice
Making plans spontaneously
With each unproven new device

Playing hoodwink with the masses
With a waffle blast bombard
Falling faster than a lead balloon
When hoisted by one’s own petard

Quantum Panorama

"Image created by Random Rhymes by the Rhyme Bandit, with creative assistance from Brutus AI."

I’m firming up my quantum state

Where Neural Networks shake and stir

Broadcasting speedy messages

Where universal coils occur

Talking to my future self

Changing aspects not by chance

Getting answers to my everything

An overlaying quantum dance

I’m ploughing up the quantum field

Writing articles on particles

Transforming my reality

Stripping radicals from barnacles

My Consciousness is out there

making house calls where it can

Conversations back and forth

A blown-up squall of Harmattan

Once Upon a Blue Moon

"Image created by Random Rhymes by the Rhyme Bandit, with creative assistance from Brutus AI."

Be happy, little moon up there

Look forward to New Year

For New Year’s Eve, a special date

Will dry away your lonely tear

December there’ll be two of you

No need to wait there all alone

No need to scroll down lonely hearts

When you’ll have a love of your own

So cheer up, little moon on high

The spells are favouring you

Your golden days in wintertime

Will dance away your blue

Reader's Digest Quote:

"Believe it or not, the phrase “blue moon” predates the modern astronomy definition. Back in 1528, an English satire used “the mone is belewe” to describe something absurd, like saying the moon was made of cheese. For centuries, “once in a blue moon” basically meant something that would never happen.

Then in 1883, the impossible suddenly looked a lot more possible. Indonesia’s Krakatoa volcano erupted, sending ash high into Earth’s atmosphere. According to NASA, the particles scattered red light and created reports of blue-green moons for years afterwards. So while most blue moons are blue in name only, the moon really can look blue under rare atmospheric conditions."
