It was way back in the Seventies
In the deep sleep of the night
A bandit dreamt of chocolate swag
And calmly hatched a plan of sleight
Tempted by a State of shellshock
Of the chocolatey suffuse
Sneaking down to implement a crime
His Egghead plan a perfect ruse
Mindful of the woozy snoozers
Slumbering off their evening wine
The Eggman robbing scallywag
Took full control of plot design
Eggs were laid in perfect rows
Farly shared to be well-served
Thrilling fillings of sweet lavishness
In fine packaging preserved
Unwrapping them too obvious
Could bring on instant retribution
A better plan demanded covertness
Avoiding easy prosecution
Approaching egg-filled boxes
With incisions at the back
Allowing unseen access
To a monumental chocolate snack
Deceptively, he left the scene
Now sated and replete
Leaving any clue from frontal view
In a pristine state of neat deceit
Sickness now enveloped him
As he headed back to bed
Regretfully ad nauseum
Hoping nothing would be said
Until the morning ceremonies
Amid the Easter Bunny chat
Brought warning chimes of choccy crimes
And a finger-pointing spat
Fait accompli brought the perp to book
Hands up he did confess
Nowhere to go but seek a pardon
For the mess of his transgress
