In The Pickled Winter

Well here we are that time again
Among the jolly moments merry
Imbibing winter warmers
From the grain the grape and berry

On long dark nights we stoke the fire
Invite the neighbours to our Yule
Mull the wine and add preserves
Tell silly jokes and play the fool

Convivially and heartily
A honey mead of gentle drift
Brings on our natural selflessness
Exchange a celebration gift

The days are short the nights are long
Not much to do but sing
Sit and cuddle by the merry hearth
Play pretend it's almost spring
