Oh Mother!

We can meet again on Mothers Day
Amid the flowers and provisions
In get together best behaviour
Unhang our hats on past divisions

We’ll spend the day recalling
On how much family is prime
Leaving baggage in a refuse sack
Collect it up another time

Compare the precious greeting cards
Noting who has pride of place
Then moving on or staying put
In silent statements lacking grace

Mother’s eyes will gleam and stream
Overcome with Mother’s pride
Best plates and pots of steaming tea
Leaving searing thoughts denied
