Valediction

It was one day 

Long overdue
When clouds
Gave way to blue
A shining song
Of sunbeam light
Dried up tears
As storms took flight
No sudden switch
No jumps for joy
But holding back
no sudden rush
Calmness kept
The line in check
No sweeping clean
No brand-new brush
So many caught
By the raid assault
Vanquished all alone
We shan’t forget
The loss we felt
When so much love
Was overthrown
