A Wise Demise

Below the borderlines of who we are
Where the miniscule take charge
Deciding what has had its day
Left way behind by those at large

So much of us we take for granted
As part of what we have by right
Only then to watch us die alive
Whilst reinforcements fled the fight

How odd our friends in memory fly
As we sink back into the womb
To nestle quietly with one last breath
Where silence settles in that room
