A Story of Fear

My mind was playing scary films
they had me in a trance
all my fears surrounding me
insanely taunting rabid dance

Beads of ice cold perspiration
there was menace in the air
they taunted me with ridicule
I couldn’t move I didn’t dare

I thought as best I could with fear
to imagine my way out
indecision had my wisdom trapped
as though my insight had run out

My heartbeat screamed decision time
to weigh up the now or never
so I chose to race with my best odds
no turning back not ever

I finally made it out of there
with a lesson learned from fear
concern is one’s protection
from when spectres get too near
