Bad Day Blues

Out of tea and coffee
Breakfast desperate for a drink
My fridge door has no sign of milk
Feeling blue I just can’t think

Shaving cream gave half a squeeze
Then petered out and died
My favourite tie is food stained
Last night's morning bleary eyed

My neighbour’s knocking at my door

With heated questions on her face
I might placate her with a beverage
But right now I'm out of grace

On days like this when life is sliding
When it’s clear I’ve lost my grip
Every sign of my normality
A monumental sinking ship
