Short Shrift

Breathing space and distance

Within a spread of listening ears

Not weighed down or set in stone

Letting false hopes smother fears

Society minds hard wired firm

Give economy first position

Meshing gears in one way drives

Where balance sheets deny transition

Little guys with little voices

Half-hearted whispers softly drift

Leaving cliché trouncing wisdom

Denying scruples with short shrift

For all the children like the little chap Peter better known as 'Baby P' who was badly let down by Politicians, Media, Police and Hospitals resulting in his murder. Those with the reins on real power walked cleanly away after scapegoating the inadequately supported frontline helpers. 

Where is justice now?
