It's Broken! (A Tradesman's Tale)

Sometimes I visit people’s houses
If circumstances cause concern
Perhaps a problem with a faulty piece
Or when the wheels refuse to turn

Half-hearted tales and rumours
Throw no light inside the tunnel
Leaving me to waste their valued time
Extracting nonsense from the funnel

Detective work uncovers evidence
Creating heat and rising tension
Explanations viewed suspiciously
Now expertise brings apprehension

We’ve just come back from holiday
Having bought a brand new car
So you'd better keep your prices tight
There's little money in the jar
